A Machine Room-Less (MRL) traction elevator is a type of elevator that uses a traction system to lift the car, but it eliminates the need for a separate, dedicated machine room. Instead of a traditional machine room, all the necessary machinery, including the motor and control panel, are housed directly within the elevator shaft, either at the top or within the hoistway.
